Qatar Gratuity Calculator (end of service, 2026)

Qatar gratuity = at least three weeks of basic wage for each year of service, for employees who complete at least one year (Labour Law No. 14 of 2004, Article 54). Part years are paid pro rata, there is no maximum, and resigning does not reduce it. An employee dismissed under Article 61 loses it.

The rules in Qatar

LawLabour Law No. 14 of 2004, Article 54
Wage usedLast basic wage (allowances and bonuses excluded)
AmountAt least 3 weeks' basic wage per year of service (a contract may give more)
Minimum service1 year
Part yearsPaid in proportion
MaximumNone
ResignationNo reduction
ForfeitureDismissal without notice under Article 61

Worked example

Basic wage QAR 9,000 a month, 4 years and 6 months of service. Using basic ÷ 30 × 21 days: 9,000 ÷ 30 × 21 = QAR 6,300 a year. × 4.5 years = QAR 28,350.

Three weeks: which method?

The law says three weeks but does not say how to turn a monthly wage into weeks. Most employers use 21 days at basic ÷ 30, which the calculator uses by default. The stricter method (monthly × 12 ÷ 52 × 3) gives slightly less, QAR 28,038 in the example above; you can switch to it below the calculator.

Qataris and domestic workers

Qatari nationals are covered by the Social Insurance Law No. 1 of 2022 instead. Domestic workers fall under Law No. 15 of 2017, which also gives three weeks' wage per year after one year of service.

For employers: gratuity is one line of what a role costs

Gratuity, leave, statutory contributions and notice periods all sit on top of salary. Routine back-office roles such as data entry, follow-ups, reconciliations and reporting can be handed to AI workers that carry none of these costs. Please note: this calculator follows the published law and common practice as checked on 21 October 2026. It is a guide, not legal advice. Contracts can give more than the legal minimum, and special cases (part-time work, free zones, disputes) can change the figure, so confirm the final amount with your HR team or a lawyer before paying or accepting a settlement.
