Qatar Take-Home Salary Calculator (2026)
Qatar does not tax salaries, so expatriates take home their full gross salary. Qatari employees pay 7% to the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority (GRSIA) on basic salary, social allowance and housing allowance (housing counted up to QAR 6,000), and their employer pays 14%.

Worked example
Hamad, a Qatari, earns QAR 45,000 a month: basic plus social allowance QAR 30,000, housing QAR 8,000 and other allowances QAR 7,000. The pension base is QAR 30,000 + QAR 6,000 (housing cap) = QAR 36,000. He pays 7% = QAR 2,520 a month; his employer pays 14% (QAR 5,040). No income tax.
Take-home pay: QAR 42,480 a month (QAR 509,760 a year). An expatriate on the same salary keeps the full QAR 45,000.
Pension for Qataris since 2023
Law No. 1 of 2022 raised the total pension contribution from 15% to 21% and extended the same rules to the private sector. The employee share is 7% and the employer share 14%. For the private sector the state may pay part of the employer share. The housing allowance counts only up to QAR 6,000 a month.
For employers
Running payroll by hand (tax tables, contributions, payslips, filings) is routine work that AI workers now handle with almost no staff time. See what an employee really costs you, or book a free automation audit for your payroll.
Please note: figures follow the published 2026 rates as checked on 21 October 2026 for a resident employee in the standard case. Not included: GCC nationals (home-country rates), people who kept a contributory salary above QAR 100,000 from before 2023, and other allowances that may count in the public sector. This is a guide, not tax advice; your payslip can differ because of tax codes, benefits and timing.
