Noura, a Kuwaiti, earns KWD 2,000 a month. PIFSS takes 8% of KWD 2,000 = KWD 160 plus 2.5% of KWD 1,500 = KWD 37.500, so KWD 197.500 a month. Her employer pays 11.5% (KWD 230). No income tax.

Take-home pay: KWD 1,802.500 a month (KWD 21,630 a year). An expatriate on the same salary keeps the full KWD 2,000.

What the insured salary is

PIFSS contributions are worked on the salary your employer reports to PIFSS: basic pay plus regular contractual allowances. One-off bonuses and expense refunds are not included. If your reported salary is lower than your gross pay, enter it in the insured salary box.

For employers

Running payroll by hand (tax tables, contributions, payslips, filings) is routine work that AI workers now handle with almost no staff time. See what an employee really costs you, or book a free automation audit for your payroll.

Please note: figures follow the published 2026 rates as checked on 21 October 2026 for a resident employee in the standard case. Not included: GCC nationals (home-country rates), the minimum contributory salary, and optional PIFSS schemes or loan repayments deducted through payroll. This is a guide, not tax advice; your payslip can differ because of tax codes, benefits and timing.
