Worked example

Faisal, a Saudi who first joined GOSI in 2025, earns SAR 16,500 a month: basic SAR 12,000, housing SAR 3,000 and transport SAR 1,500. GOSI is worked on basic plus housing (SAR 15,000): annuities 10% = SAR 1,500 and SANED 0.75% = SAR 112.50, so SAR 1,612.50 a month. No income tax.

Take-home pay: SAR 14,887.50 a month (SAR 178,650 a year). A Saudi registered before 3 July 2024 pays 9.75% (SAR 1,462.50) and an expatriate pays nothing.

The new GOSI rates for new entrants

The Social Insurance Law that took effect on 3 July 2024 raises the annuities (pension) rate for Saudis who join GOSI for the first time on or after that date. Their rate goes up by 0.5% for the employee and 0.5% for the employer every 1 July from 2025 to 2028. On 1 July 2026 it reached 10% each, so the employee pays 10.75% including SANED. Saudis already registered before 3 July 2024 stay on 9% plus 0.75%.

For employers

Running payroll by hand (tax tables, contributions, payslips, filings) is routine work that AI workers now handle with almost no staff time. See what an employee really costs you, or book a free automation audit for your payroll.

Please note: figures follow the published 2026 rates as checked on 21 October 2026 for a resident employee in the standard case. Not included: GCC nationals working in Saudi Arabia (their home-country rates apply), commissions that count for GOSI, and the minimum contribution wage. This is a guide, not tax advice; your payslip can differ because of tax codes, benefits and timing.
