Click-to-Chat Link Generator for WhatsApp
A WhatsApp link opens a chat with your number in one tap, without the customer saving the number first. Its format is https://wa.me/ plus your full international number (no +, spaces or leading 0), then ?text= and a URL-encoded message if you want one typed in. Enter your number to get the link, a QR code and a website button.

Scanning it opens the chat with your message typed in. Print it on menus, counters, flyers and visiting cards.
PNG is 1024 × 1024 pixels. SVG stays sharp at any print size. Need colours or a logo? Use the QR code for WhatsApp chats.

How a WhatsApp link is built
| Start | https://wa.me/ |
|---|---|
| Number | Full international number, digits only: country code, then the number without its leading 0. No +, spaces, brackets or dashes. |
| Message | Add ?text= followed by the message, URL-encoded: a space becomes %20, a new line %0A, and each emoji its UTF-8 percent codes. |
| No number | https://wa.me/?text=… opens WhatsApp with the message ready and lets the person choose the chat. |
| Where it opens | The WhatsApp app on a phone; WhatsApp Desktop or WhatsApp Web on a computer. |
| Cost and expiry | Free, needs no account or approval, and never expires. |
Worked example
A shop in London has the mobile number 07911 123456. With United Kingdom (+44) chosen, the generator removes the space and the leading 0 and adds 44, giving 447911123456. The message Hi! I'd like a quote 👋 is encoded so that spaces become %20 and the waving-hand emoji becomes %F0%9F%91%8B. The finished link is:
https://wa.me/447911123456?text=Hi!%20I'd%20like%20a%20quote%20%F0%9F%91%8B
Where to use your WhatsApp link
- Instagram bio: go to Edit profile, then Links, then Add external link, and paste it. Visitors tap it and land in a chat with you.
- Google Business Profile: add it wherever your profile accepts a web link, for example the button on an update (post), so people who find you on Search and Maps can message you.
- Ads: use it on the landing page and in any ad format that accepts a link. A pre-filled message such as "Hi, I saw your ad for the spring offer" tells you which ad brought the customer. Check each ad platform's rules for messaging links before you run the ad.
- Email signature and website: add it as a "Chat on WhatsApp" link, or paste the chat button code from above. Our email signature generator has a WhatsApp field.
- Print: put the QR code on menus, shop counters, packaging and visiting cards.
Tips for the pre-filled message
Keep it short and specific so it is easy to send as it is. Use a different message for each place you share the link (bio, ad, flyer), and you will know where each chat came from without any tracking tool. The person can always edit the text before sending, and nothing is sent until they press send.
For businesses: answer every WhatsApp chat, day and night
A WhatsApp link brings in chats; the work starts when the messages arrive. AiStaffo sets up an AI assistant on your WhatsApp Business number that replies in seconds, answers common questions, collects the customer's details and books calls or visits, and passes anything unusual to your team. Book a free automation audit and we will look at what your WhatsApp chats could run on their own.
Please note: this tool builds links in the documented click-to-chat format, checked on 21 October 2026. It is independent and not connected with WhatsApp. Always tap "Test link" before printing or advertising a link.
