Tax Invoice Generator (South Africa, 15% VAT)

A South African full tax invoice, needed above R5,000, must show the words "Tax Invoice", "VAT Invoice" or "Invoice", your name, address and VAT number, the customer's name and address and VAT number if registered, a serial number and date, a description and quantity, and the value, VAT and total (SARS). Up to R5,000 an abridged tax invoice is enough. VAT is 15%.

For businesses and freelancers billing their own real sales. An invoice or receipt for a supply or payment that did not happen is a false document. Figures are entered by you and are not checked by AiStaffo.

Worked example

A R8,000 service at 15%: VAT R1,200.00, total R9,200.00. Because it is above R5,000, a full tax invoice with the customer's details is required. A R1,150.00 sale including VAT can use an abridged tax invoice: VAT is 1,150 × 15 ÷ 115 = R150.00.

Abridged tax invoice

For R5,000 or less you may leave out the customer's details. Choose "Abridged Tax Invoice"; you can enter prices including VAT and the invoice shows the VAT included.

For businesses: let the invoicing run itself

South African invoicing feeds VAT201 returns, debtor follow-up and month-end reconciliations. Raising invoices, matching payments and chasing overdue clients is routine work an AI worker can run end to end, with your team only checking exceptions. Book a free automation audit and we will show you what it would take off your desk.

Please note: this generator follows the SARS tax invoice rules as checked on 21 October 2026. It does not decide whether a supply is zero-rated or exempt; check with SARS or your tax practitioner.
