Tax Invoice Generator (Australia, GST 2026)

An Australian tax invoice must show that it is a tax invoice, the seller's identity and ABN, the date, a description of each item with quantity and price, the GST amount (or that the total includes GST), and which items are taxable. For sales of A$1,000 or more it must also show the buyer's identity or ABN (ATO). GST is 10%.

For businesses and freelancers billing their own real sales. An invoice or receipt for a supply or payment that did not happen is a false document. Figures are entered by you and are not checked by AiStaffo.

Worked example

A bookkeeper charges 12 hours at A$110 including GST: total A$1,320.00, of which GST is one-eleventh, A$120.00. Because the sale is over A$1,000, the invoice must also show the client's name or ABN. Tick "My prices already include GST" to enter prices this way.

GST-free items and mixed invoices

Mark each line as GST 10% or GST-free. The invoice then shows which items are taxable, the GST amount and the total, as the ATO requires for mixed sales.

Not registered for GST?

If your turnover is under A$75,000 and you are not registered, you must not charge GST or call your document a tax invoice. Choose "Invoice" as the document type and mark lines GST-free; still show your ABN.

For businesses: let the invoicing run itself

Australian invoicing feeds BAS lodgement, Single Touch Payroll and debtor follow-ups. Raising invoices, matching payments and chasing overdue clients is routine work an AI worker can run end to end, with your team only checking exceptions. Book a free automation audit and we will show you what it would take off your desk.

Please note: this generator follows the ATO tax invoice rules as checked on 21 October 2026. It does not decide whether a sale is GST-free; check ato.gov.au or your BAS agent.
