Pay Slip Generator (Australia)

Australian employers must give a pay slip within one working day of payday. It must show the employer and employee names, the employer's ABN, the pay period, payment date, gross and net pay, hourly rate and hours (or annual salary), loadings and allowances, each deduction, and the super contribution with the fund's name.

For employers and payroll staff issuing payslips to their own employees from real payroll records. Do not use it to create a payslip for yourself or to show anyone figures that were not actually paid: that is a false document.

Worked example

Press "Fill example figures" to load this example (a two-week pay period). Earnings: Ordinary hours $2,926.00, so gross pay is $2,926.00. Deductions: PAYG withholding $512.00, $512.00 in all. Net pay is $2,926.00 − $512.00 = $2,414.00, written on the payslip as "Two Thousand Four Hundred Fourteen Australian Dollars Only". The deduction amounts are examples; work out real ones with your payroll software or the salary calculator for your country.

For employers

Payslips are the last step of a monthly routine: collecting attendance, working out pay and deductions, filing returns, sending slips and answering questions. AI workers now run that routine end to end with a person approving the exceptions. Book a free automation audit and we will show what it would take off your payroll desk.

Please note: the generator formats the figures you enter; it does not check them against tax or labour law. Rules are as checked on 21 October 2026 from the sources below. This is not legal or tax advice.

Questions people ask

What must be on a pay slip in Australia?
Employer and employee names, the employer's ABN, pay period, payment date, gross and net pay, the hourly rate and hours (or annual salary), loadings, allowances, bonuses and penalty rates, each deduction with the fund or account it went to, and the super contribution with the fund name.
When do pay slips have to be given?
Within one working day of payday, including when the employee is on leave. Paper or electronic slips are both fine.
Do pay slips have to show leave balances?
No, but it is good practice and employees can ask for them. Paid family and domestic violence leave must never be shown on a pay slip.
How much super goes on the pay slip?
The super guarantee is 12% of ordinary time earnings. Show the amount for the period (or the amount you will pay) and the fund's name.
What is PAYG withholding?
The income tax the employer withholds from each pay under the ATO tax tables and sends to the ATO. It appears as a deduction on the pay slip.
Can I use this to make a payslip for myself?
No. The generator is for employers and payroll staff issuing payslips to their own employees from real payroll figures. A payslip that misstates pay, or is made to show a bank, landlord or visa office something untrue, is a false document and can be a criminal offence.
